Now Hiring Quality Manager

We are currently seeking qualified candidates for the position of Quality Manager. This individual will oversee the day-to-day operations in the quality lab and any developmental work, including formulation improvement and standardization. The position is also required to ensure adherence to ASTM, ARM, and ISO guidelines for quality testing as required.  This individual will also provide technical support and experimental design for new business development and root-cause analysis.

Position Responsibilities:

Research and Development

  • Evaluation of potential new business development and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Manufacturing Managers for new business and processes
    • How does a material interact with equipment?
    • SDS evaluation to support EHS efforts during new business development
    • Key indicators for process and compound overlap responsibilities
    • Verify material certifications against customer’s requirements
  • Collaboration on marketing campaigns for new business and formulation, collaboration with CSR Manager.
  • Customer on-site support for new product launches in order to support start-up mold process
  • Report analysis for reverse-engineered products
  • Works to solve field issues and customer questions
  • Execution of organized Design of Experiment for new business and new formulations
  • In-depth analysis review of TGA, DSC, FTIR, and any other laboratory testing that may be required to develop and identify key components within a compound for formulation.
  • Research of reactivity between compound chemical compositions to ensure in-field service of material
  • SDS evaluation for new and replacement additives for employee safety and handling requirements.
  • Tracking of progress for open and potential business opportunities in new formulation design.
  • Research and testing of formulation standardization for resins, additives, and colorants.
  • Technical training on material evaluation and troubleshooting – Jerico customers and employees.
  • Project management
    • Role may vary between leadership, support (execution of sample production), and sales representative support with customer inquiries requiring technical data and explanation. 
    • Must support agreed-upon due date(s) for sample delivery to customer.

Quality Management

  • Day-to-day QA lab operations – supervise lab technicians.
    • Daily direction and work volume requirements for lab techs during their given shifts
    • Availability after hours to support decision making
  • Corrective action reports – facilitation of data acquisition and stakeholder accountability.
    • Replication of customer quality issues (lab testing) and root-cause analysis
    • Champion management team for root cause and corrective action implementation
    • Responsible for the disposition of nonconforming materials 
    • Follow up as necessary to ensure changes implemented are being followed 
  • Responsible to work with Customer Relations Rep for initial color match to customer requirements
  • Responsible for production color control and color matching
  • Standardization of all QA testing and protocols found in the Jerico Quality Manual.
  • Scheduling or performing maintenance and calibration for lab equipment and instruments.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Biology or equivalent.  
  • Polymer Science and Polymer Engineering preferred, but not required.
  • 5+ years of experience in an experimental laboratory setting.
  • 5+ years QA Leadership experience or equivalent.
  • In-depth knowledge of ASTM, ARM, and ISO guidelines for materials in rotational molding industry.
  • Ability to integrate; ISO9001 and ISO14001 for documentation and program tracking.
  • Proficient with Minitab Software for SQC or equivalent – Preferred but not required.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certified preferred but not required.
